Nick Panicola

Nick serves as the Produce Safety Technician for the Grand Traverse Conservation District. He maintains a deep connection to food and the people who dedicate their lives to its production and stewardship. To this position he brings a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology from Iowa State University and more than five years of experience in viticulture and winemaking. Additionally, he has spent spurts of his working life engaged in a handful of farms throughout the midwest learning about vegetable production and animal husbandry. These experiences are vital to Nick’s understanding of the unique structures of operation and challenges that each farm in our community faces in the continually changing human, and natural, environment. Through this work as a Produce Safety Technician, he hopes to develop a stronger and more resilient agricultural, and wider community for the benefit of us all and the generations to come.
